![]() ![]() Encounters with other players who play as Julianna trying to protect the loop are cool because sometimes it is hard to tell who is who and if you encountered enemy is NPC or an online player. The game has beautiful art style and music direction but what I like the most about the game is the online component. This will help you make decisions how to tackle the game, understand story in the game, which is presented in none-linear way, and help you find secrets hidden through-out the world. It is important to familiarize yourself well with game mechanics, take time to explore and read notes left through-out the world. At first I was confused about the game and I did not like it much but after playing it few times I progressively changed my mind. I do not remember last time I played a game like Deathloop. Consequently Arkane now needs a miracle to overcome 3 consecutive financial flops (Dishonored 2, Prey, & Deathloop).Ĥ0h ProgressThis game is not your typical FPS because it has unique gameplay mechanics. That, combined with the horrible game performance on PC for the first 3 months after release - which most people attribute to intrusive Denuvo anti-tamper software - means Arkane sabotaged their own game right out of the gate. The marketing materials awkwardly portray it as a 1970s Blaxploitation thing, which I think was a terrible mistake. Random aside: Although I loved Deathloop, its sales numbers were way below expectation for Arkane Studios. And considering the ending is the last thing you see, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The Silenced Limp-10 machine pistol is too good to ever switch out! I would echo the common complaint that, for all the mysteries posed at you, and answers that characters literally promise to give you, the game ends up resolving nothing. Wish there were late game loot that you would actually want. There seems to be an ideal build that everyone figures out and has access to pretty early on, and that's a shame. Lots of little secrets and collectibles, which I had to 100% out of compulsion and do not regret. ![]() ![]() Great game concept, smooth gameplay, excellent combat, bitchin art design, good environmental puzzles, creative world-building and interesting drip-fed lore. An immersive sim but without the option of bloodless stealthplay - which is fine, because dragging unconscious bodies into broom closets all day was never my idea of a good time. I have much greater access not just to video games, but to news about video games, and time to play them, so I can’t expect casual players to keep up.32h PlayedOne of the most fun times I've ever had with a game. This is not just me complaining that my favourites are missing out, and I understand that I get access to a lot of games for free through my job, and even the ones I pick up myself, I’m playing for work. Last year’s NBA 2K makes the cut as well, underscoring how unstoppable sports games are. ![]() The same two Call of Dutys make the list, as do NBA 2K, Madden, and MLB The Show. Grand Theft Auto 5, Minecraft, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Mortal Kombat 11 all make the list, and that’s hardly proof of an industry constantly pushing for innovation. On PS4, there’s some great games, but they’re mostly older ones. Sony just invested in more for just that reason, and with both Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok both going cross-platform, the PS4 isn’t dead yet. I know the most hardcore players have upgraded to the PS5 by now, but the PS4 remains popular. ![]()
